Good, good, good, good vibrations

OTTAWA CITIZEN Brian Wilson said that, "People still love the songs. I feel proud. It's like an adventure. We try to keep it pretty cool, but each night is different. It's all still quite a thrill."

Pitchfork Reviews Dennis Wilson's "Pacific Ocean Blue"; Gives album 8.5/10

PITCHFORK "Brian Wilson grew obsessed with comparing himself with Paul McCartney; comparing Dennis to his Beatles counterpart makes little sense except in terms of contrast. Whereas Ringo was a consummate professional who adopted a simple-seeming but complex playing style, Dennis Wilson developed his own talents almost entirely on the back of emotion, not technical expertise. His works show the obvious influence of the blues and soul, with Wilson manifestly stating the predicament of his own aimless love and rootless existence. Always an artistic spirit, a slacker with a penchant for surfing, an incurable womanizer, a morbid alcoholic, Dennis Wilson was a player in life's essential boundaries, fated to cross the big one far too soon. Anyone enthralled by Brian Wilson's 30-year journey from the brink should examine Dennis' work as well."

California Wildfires Impact Al Jardine

NY TIMES “One local celebrity, the Beach Boys’ guitarist Al Jardine, said he had loaded up a trailer with musical equipment on Monday night, and was hoping to hold out before the evacuation order came. ‘It’s depressing,’ Mr. Jardine said. ‘People are walking around like zombies.’”

Bands pay tribute to Beach Boy Dennis Wilson at London night

NME "A host of bands played tribute to Dennis Wilson in London this week (June 30). The acts gathered at The Social's Pacific Ocean Blue night, covering the former Beach Boy's songs. Starsailor's James Walsh – who was celebrating after becoming a father for the second time earlier that day – covered 'River Song' and 'You Are So Beautiful', along with playing his own 'Lullaby'. The Loose Salute took on 'Pacific Ocean Blue' and 'Time', and were then joined by Pete Greenwood on their own track 'Death Club'. Jersey Budd played 'Rainbows'. Ed Harcourt performed 'Forever' and 'Carry Me Home', while The Magic Numbers covered 'Thoughts Of You', 'He's a Bum' and then played their own song 'I See You, You See Me'. The organisers of the Dennis Wilson tribute night will stage a similar evening at the venue later in the summer."
